Here are some ways you can participate in the Oyster Shell Recycling Program!

Volunteer

 

Interested in hosting a shell bagging event for your group of 5 or more?

Contact Joe DiDomenico at jdidomenico@delawareestuary.org to schedule an event! Events are hosted in  Philadelphia, PA at our shell management area, about two miles from the Philadelphia Airport

For Individuals:

Volunteer bagging opportunities for the general public are typically hosted by PDE in the fall and spring. Registration is required for participation.

Liability Waiver:

All participants must sign a liability waiver to participate. Anyone under 18 will need a parent/guardian signature.

Contact Leah at lmorgan@delawareestuary.org to learn about available loose or bagged shell for purchase. Proceeds support PDE’s Oyster Shell Recycling Program.

Recycle your oyster shells

Enjoy oysters at home? Don’t throw the shells away—recycle them! We collect used shells and use them to restore shorelines. Drop off your shells at our marked collection bins.
