Help PDE bag oyster shells!

When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 17
Where: Wilmington, Delaware

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us bag oyster shells for use in living shorelines and other environmental projects.

PDE collects oyster shells from local restaurants, dries them, bags them, and then takes them where they can protect shorelines on various waterways from erosion. Plus, the shells create a habitat for more oysters and other water-loving animals.

Here are a few more details:

Who: Anyone age 12 or over! (Children under 18 need parental consent prior to participating, and those under 16 would need a parent present during the event)

What:  Putting oyster shells into bags. It is time consuming, so we need volunteers like you! It is also a little messy and a bit physical, so be prepared!

What to Bring: Weather dependent clothing, close-toed shoes, gloves (if don’t have your own we’ll have some available), water, and snacks (if you’d like)! We will have extra water and light snacks available.
