2010 Pennsylvania Coast Day

 

Get to the river─better yet, get on the river─during Pennsylvania Coast Day at Penn’s Landing on September 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Visitors will have three opportunities to experience the Delaware River.  Limited seats will be available onboard:

  • RiverLink Ferry boats
    • From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
      • Free to the first 1,200 riders
  • The schooner North Wind of Gloucester City, New Jersey
    • Sails on the hour from 1 to 5 p.m.
      • $10 per person
  • New Jersey’s official tall ship, the A.J. Meerwald
    • Please call (856) 785-2060 for reservations
      • Morning sail, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
        • $30 for adults, $25 for seniors (60 yrs. +), and $15 for children (3-12 yrs.)
      • Afternoon sail, from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
        • $30 for adults, $25 for seniors (60 yrs. +), and $15 for children (3-12 yrs.)
      • Evening sail, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
        • $35 for adults, $30 for seniors (60 yrs. +), and $20 for children (3-12 yrs.)
  • (Kayaking lessons and swan-shaped pedal boat rides will not be available due to scheduling conflicts. We apologize for any inconvenience.)

Landlubbers will also enjoy more than 20 interactive displays and children’s activities near the RiverLink Ferry terminal.  All this and more will be available to the public for free.  See for yourself in our photo gallery.

A free afternoon shuttle will be available to take you to and from the nearby Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center.  Visitors can discover a boatload about the Schuylkill River, its vast watershed, and much more at this historical landmark. Other aquatic attractions are also within easy walking distance, including the Independence Seaport Museum (special $5 admission).
